Robert Menasse is an European writer and essayist who wrote novels and essays about literary issues but also about the future of Europe and the European Union, criticizing tendencies of re-nationalization and anti-European integration movements.
Robert Menasse is well known in Brussels because of “Die Hauptstadt” (The Capital), the great European novel that can be considered as his testament to a shameful age. For this novel he was awarded the German Book Prize (Deutscher Buch Preis) in 2017.
The foreign rights for his novel were sold to more than 20 publishers all over the world.
