Cúpla Focal in conversation with Colin Walsh

Cúpla Focal in conversation with Colin Walsh

Taking energy from the Spring equinox and the wakening world, gather with us for a conversation with Colin Walsh, author of Kala, and a host of other friends who will share their words. Together we will take on the said, the unsaid, the half-said: saying one thing while meaning another.

Colin Walsh's debut novel Kala won the Irish Book Award for Newcomer of the Year, was shortlisted for the Waterstones Debut Fiction and John McGahern Book Prize, and won the 2024 Nota Bene Prize. Kala was a New York Times Editor’s Choice and book of the year for the Guardian, GQ Magazine, and Dua Lipa’s Service95 Book Club, amongst others. It was added to the English Literature A-level curriculum in 2025.

Cúpla Focal is a moment for emerging voices to tell unfiltered stories – about Ireland, Irishness, and everything in between. Events are hosted in venues around Brussels with the hope of giving everyone the chance to bask in the magic, wildness, and whimsy of Irish storytelling.
